The Australian Woman's Weekly (Consolidated Press)

magazine started to run the first Mandrake adventure (Mandrake v The Cobra) on the 1st of Decembre 1934 (about six month avfter the firs US appearance).

The succeeeding strips appeared in sequence until 1944 when the Australian daily papers began printing the Mandrake dailies themselves (beginning with Witch of Kaloon 2 Dec 1944).

The Woman's Weekly therefore switched to printing the SUNDAY pages but in black and white not colour ....first Sunday reprinted was the Kordie Island sequence which began on 25 Nov 1944. The strip went to rotocolour in 1952 and back to B & W in 1959.
